Welcome to Day Eleven of the Twelve Days of Holiday Cards. Tomorrow is the last day of the series. Please let me know if you'd like to continue to see this series in the future! I'd love to hear your thoughts.
Today's card features Stamps and Dies from Poppy Stamps, a Memory Box Company. This was super simple with just a sentiment from the Love & Friendship Stamp Set. I took a half sheet of Gina K Designs Fresh Asparagus Cardstock and used Gold and Sheer Shimmer Mist on it. I set it aside to let it dry while I die cut the poinsettia layers.
Using my favorite Shine Red Satin Cardstock and cut three of the Small Blooming Poinsettias as well as the smallest layer from the Blooming Poinsettia. I also cut three of the smallest layer of the Blooming Poinsettia from the Gina K Designs Fresh Asparagus Cardstock to use for a layer of leaves.
Once the die cutting was finished, I die cut the new Poppy Stamps Holly Frame & Stencil Die which has a coordinating stencil, although I didn't use it here. For my background panel, I chose Curious Metallic Aloe Cardstock for my background panel which I hope you can tell is just the palest hint of mint green.
I used a liquid adhesive, either Connect Glue or Ranger Multi Medium Matte depending on which was closer to the hand I was grabbing it with. Often and I holding a layer with my tweezers in my right hand while "attempting" to squeeze out a bit of glue with my left hand. I unscrew the top by holding it in my teeth, which is not a very good idea so I need to quit doing that! I am very careful, but it really isn't a good idea. Once I get the lid off, I can do pretty good with my left hand.
Using a powder tool, I went all over the surface of the Aloe Panel and then heat embossed the sentiment from Love & Friendship Stamp Set using Simon Says Stamp Antique Gold Embossing Powder. I have a particular girlfriend in mind so I wanted to use this sentiment about friends.
For the centers of the poinsettias, I used a Red Foil Sequin with a gemstone in the center. You have to do the sequins first, rather than trying to do both steps at once as the sequins need a few minutes of dry time. By the time you finish the third one, you can go back in the same order and add the jewels to the center of the sequins.
I always like to fluff up the petals afterward, to make sure that the flowers will hold up if the recipient wants to do that. This was quick and easy way to make a really pretty Holiday Card.

Lovely card! The poinsettias are just beautiful and they look so pretty with the holly frame die!
ReplyDeleteI hope you're enjoying a nice Thanksgiving Day!
Yet another beautiful card, loving the traditional palette you've used today. I have certainly enjoyed the card ideas you've shared during your series, I've discovered a few new-to-me gems along the way. Thanks for sharing your creativity.
ReplyDeleteI love poinsettias and this card is amazing with the red poinsettias and that lovely green background leaf frame - TFS - so beautiful!
ReplyDeleteHi Vicki,
ReplyDeleteAnother AWESOME card, so sparkly and gorgeous! I LOVE the sentiment, my best friend is the sister I never had, sadly I along with her am grieving the loss os her wonderful father today.
Cariños,
María Alba
My best friend is also a sister to me and I to her. She is Hispanic which I am thinking you are Hispanic or Puerto Rican? My deepest sympathies to you both. My bestie, Gloria lost her Mom a couple of years ago, so I am her only family now other than her children.
DeleteI love all the shimmer and shine on your card! This die looks great for creating simple yet beautiful cards.
ReplyDeleteVery pretty. That card stock really is the perfect color for poinsettias. I had to chuckle when I was reading your post, my mom's voice popped in my head saying "Don't open things with your teeth." lol
ReplyDeleteHi Vicki :) How elegant and sophisticated!!! I love all the embossing and dimensionality on this card! The color palette is a real winner in my book too! Thanks for inspiring me :)
