Hi everyone, Vicki here today! Did you see this gorgeous card from Pam Sparks' IG or Blog on Friday, October 25th? Since I had just finished a post using this Watercolor Woodland Washi Tape from Memory Box, I was wondering what it would look like on something other than white cardstock. As soon as I saw Pam's card in my IG feed, I knew I had to try it out for myself.
Here's a rundown of the colors I put this washi tape on:
If you are new to my blog, I make a ton of cards each year and I put little goody bags together for my Sisters-In-Law each year at our Family Christmas celebration. So between what I use and what I give to them, I need a lot of cards!
I tried to keep things pretty simple for the most part and did a lot with my usual thing, which is Gold Cardstock with whatever. These cards are no exception.
This card uses Gina K Designs Gold Metallic Cardstock because it was the only shade of cardstock I had on hand for the depth of color I wanted. I used several varieties of brown cardstock I had a half sheet in my scrap bin, so it worked out alright and I was able to get two card fronts from each 4.25 x 11-inch piece of cardstock. I also used the Corner Holly Swirl on nearly all of these cards. I still have a few panels for other projects. It's pretty handy to make several card panels in the same style for later use. I keep these extras in a Stamp Pocket on my desk for when I need a card in a hurry! This color would be awesome for the guys in your life.
This particular card also uses a green shimmer cardstock call Fairway from PaperPapers.com for the Corner Holly Swirl. All of the red glitter berries were made with Christmas Red Stickles. I have some Christmas Red Nuvo Glitter Drops, but they need to be warm to use. It's been cold this week in Texas, so rather than fool around with the Nuvo Drops, I went right to the Stickles.
This card panel was done on Vintage Jadeite cardstock and I also really love the color of this! Heck, let's face it - I like all the colors. But the Hawaiian Shores and the Vintage Jadeite happen to be my two favorites!
This is Watercolor Woodland on grey cardstock. I used the "on Earth" from the Tidings Wreath Stamp Set and the "& Bright" from the Merry & Bright Mistletoe Stamp Set. I cut the "Merry" apart from the rest of the sentiment so I could use it with the larger Merry word die.
This card is done on dark blue cardstock with Silver Accents. I really love how this turned out. For some reason, dark blue with Silver just seems more "right" in my mind and my personal color sense than Gold in most cases. The details in all Memory Box Dies are just beautiful!
Memory Box's most recent release had several of these large word dies in "Merry", "Peace", "Wish", and "Joy". I love them all, but my focus this time of year is Christmas!
I guess the point of this post is to literally think "Outside the Box", beyond just white cardstock under washi tape. If I hadn't seen Pam's card, I wouldn't have explored the colored cardstock option nearly as soon as I did. Her beautiful card inspired me which is what I try to share with you here and on my blog.
