In my crafty parcel sent by Ink to Paper for my guest post, I received the To Die for Sentiments: Love and I knew I wanted to incorporate them with the On the Border: From the Heart Frame Die.
I started by die cutting a frame from Gold Foiled Cardstock and another from Stamper's Select White Cardstock using my Gemini Junior Die Cutting Machine. Since this is a very delicate and fine die, I wanted to use my electronic cutting machine, although most of the time I still use my Cuttlebug. I removed the center heart portion, setting it aside, and then adhered the frame part of the die-cut to a panel of Scarlet Shimmer Cardstock. I also left the leaf interior in the die, but you could remove that part as well if you only want the outline portion of the frame. Next, I carefully removed the detailed portion of the center heart from the gold panel and added it to the white interior heart, running it through my Xyron Sticker machine. I pressed everything down with my Teflon bone folder.
Next, I die cut the words "Love You" from Red Glitter Cardstock. This greeting is so big and bold that I decided I wanted to put the "Love" on the outside and the "you" on a heart on the inside. This is a fun way to decorate the inside of your card and makes for a great visual impact on the card. For the inlay style, the biggest secret is using a double-sided adhesive for the die-cuts. It just makes it so much easier than trying to glue down those delicate pieces or sentiments, so once I had the inlaid pieces adhered to the card, it made it super easy to use the leftover bits of scraps for the interior heart. I used Multi Medium Matte for the glitter word, but the double-sided adhesive is much easier most of the time. I'm still trying to finish up several bits and pieces of things for Christmas, so I grabbed my always-ready bottle of Multi Medium Matte.
Normally, I would shimmer mist the white cardstock but because I was using glitter cardstock for the word dies, I wanted to keep it a matte white.
The Scarlet Shimmer Cardstock is so beautiful. You can get it in a sampler pack with multiple colors to see if you like it, but it is heavyweight cardstock, just like all of Ink to Paper's other cardstock. I added my card front panel to a top folding, vertical card base.
The inside of the card is just as lovely as the outside and the gold and glitter really have a big impact when you open the card up. I see myself doing more of this in the future but I also love the Inside Sentiments that Ink to Paper has been releasing so you can also do that if you like.
This frame die is simply gorgeous and I will definitely be using it a lot this Valentine's Day! Thanks so much for stopping by today! I appreciate it when you take the time to leave me a comment!
